Session 2: Canyon Exploration

Recap 5/17/2019:
Day 2

You decided to hit the dungeon entrance area just to see what it looks like before making the plunge.  Smart move, good to gather intel to see what you may need before significant exploring.

You came up the old military road that slits off the main road and reached the gate house.  The gate house is in front of a Canyon that is about 150 feet wide.  The gate house is about 2 stories (25' high) and a wall that spans to block the canyon.  the gate house doors are wide open, and you can see they lead to the other side.  you can also see that the walls on either side of the gate house are crumbling to the point that you can easily get through.  You avoid the main entrance and creep around to the broken wall and make your way through.  On the other side you can see two doors that would allow entrance into the gatehouse.

First you make your way around the canyon.  You can see a few copses of trees, a waterfall coming from a cave up above dropping into a pool and some remnants of old buildings. You check out the pool which was abnormally warm but other than that nothing interesting.  You can see some natural cave entrances on either side of the canyon some way up.  Some have switchbacks and the others are just high and you would have to climb.  There are also two man made openings into the cave on the ground level.

You make your way all the way to the end of the canyon and find what you believe to be the entrance to the dungeon.  All the info you have gathers up to this point seem to lead you to believe this is it.  You check it out and see some stairs going down.  You went back to the gate house and had a look in a few rooms.  In one room you find a few nasty giant centipedes.  You easily dispatch them and move further into the building.  You open one door and find 2 goblins sleeping.  Maybe the companions to the 2 you dispatched last session.  They are stirring awake and you have advantage and attack.  The wizard quickly casts sleep on the and they go back to their slumber.  You easily take care of them.
You also have a map of the surface level for your research.

Goblins had a total of 82 (41GP GP) Electrum pieces and one had a copper nose ring worth about 10 GP.
