day 5
When we last left our adventurers, they were collecting their wits after Crom died from the bite of a gecko. The PCs decided enough was enough. They went back to town and had a rest. After hitting the bank and purchasing some items and potions the PCs are off to the tavern for breakfast. Their collective loot is now a 250 GP gem and 495 GPs.

The adventurers make it back to StoneHell without incident. They manage to scrounge a plank of wood about
12 feet long and manage to get it down the stairs with just a little
trouble. With all the noise they made
they didn’t manage to rouse anything dangerous.
They quickly take the plank over to the pit trap they discovered in
their last delve and use it to cross the pit.
Once they get over, they discover a hall way going north and
south. There was an empty room to the
north. Then the room in the south was
occupied by a couple of dwarves. It was
full of masterpiece stonework; images of dwarven gods; an intricate patterned
floor. They see 3 dwarves taking
notes. One on the ground with a bunch of
sheets of paper and rubbings of the walls.
The one on the floor introduces himself as Snorri Bouldershoulder. The Druid quickly smiles and strikes up a
conversation. The dwarves seem really
excited about being in the dungeon and state they are there to do architectural
research into their ancestors who once helped to build some of this
dungeon. They state they are not really
interested in joining the crew unless they want to help in the research. They offer some info about the Orcs being
very nearby and to watch out. They also
need to watch out for the dual statues in the hallway nearby.
The thief, Lyes kin of Crom, has some kind of dislike for
dwarves. He is sneering at them while
the druid chats to them. Instead of succumbing
to his hate he checked out the room. He
notices two bricks that look out of place in the wall. He pushes on one and it does nothing. He can’t reach the other one and calls over
the fighter. They both start pushing on
the bricks and the dwarves collectively say: "STOP!" Snorri says "That is where the orcs are
that i was warning you about!" Too
late! They ignore him and the wall silently opens. The thief pushing it open a little and sees
shadows moving. (For being a squishy thief he sure likes to take risks) He sneaks in a little
and sees some pig faced beasts that are clamoring around. They are arguing with each other about who is
on duty. Some are walking around and
some are sitting around a fire. They didn’t
see the door open since it was a little out of their sight. The PCs decide to file in. The 7 Orcs are surprised, and the PCs have
the advantage. Combat begins!
Ormel the magic user states she wants to cast sleep. The others prep for that spell and move to
fill in the room. The spell puts 5 of
the 7 to sleep. A small skirmish ensues,
and both are killed. All the sleeping
orcs are dispatched and one left to sleep for a later interrogation. 4 more orcs make their way to see what all
the fuss is about. Before they can get
into the room, the PCs start attacking.
The PCs take some damage, but 3 orcs go down and one high tails it out
of there.
The PCS know time is short.
They start to gather some of the loot in the room, rummaging through
pockets and bags. They manage to gather
up a bunch of things and secure them before more orcs show up at the
doorway! 2 big orcs and a very big one
right behind them. After some back and
forth between the PCs and Orcs the PCs take some damage. The druid decides to back up and dump lamp
oil all over the space between them and the orcs. It quickly ignites and the orcs are cut off
from the adventurers. The PCs file out
through the secret door they entered and make their way into that room. Snoori and his crew are long gone. The PCs close the door and hope that the orcs
didn’t see where they were going.
There were some close calls and the sleep spell really saved
them. The hall way fighting kept down
the number of attacks the orcs could dish out as well.
